What day was it yesterday? What day of the week is it today? What day will it be tomorrow? Sing our days of the week song. Do jazz hands for today.

What is the weather today?

It was the 29th yesterday. I wonder if you know what the date it is today. How do you know?

 

Maths –

Pretend to be a rocket and count down from 10. Challenge – Can you count backwards from 20?

Play ‘How much money in my Piggy?’ PowerPoint activity. Can the children recognise the value of the coin and add the values together to work out the amount?

Can you play ice cream parlour role play. Use the ice cream cost sheet as a price list. Can the children order and pay for the ice cream with the correct coins? Can they work out how much each ice cream costs by adding up the coins?

Look at the blend cl. Two letters that make two sounds but that blend together. They are friends. The blend is in words such as clap, clown, claw, clam, clock. Sound out the words, write and add sound buttons.

Can you think of any other words with the ‘cl’ blend? Share. Write the words down.

In my backpack I have… Sound out the items listed. Can the children hear and blend the sounds to work out what is in your bag? – String, torch, hat, cup, tent, jacket, lighter, cooler, soap.

Write the words or encourage your child to write the words. Can your child use the correct sounds to spell the words. Read the word together. Add sound buttons. Can your child recognise the digraphs and trigraphs in the word?

English/ Communication and Language –

Look at the big sheet of paper from yesterday. Can you use it to help order the pictures of the story? Can you retell the story using the cards and props that you have at home. If you do not have any of the props such as a cow toy, red tractor etc, then you could make puppets. You could draw the characters on to paper, cut them outa nd stick them to a spoon, a straw, a lolly pot stick, a twig…anything you have available.
