Good Morning!
It looks a bit cloudy today. I hope the weather picks up again.
Firstly, thank you so much for all my beautiful and yummy gifts. I love them all. The button picture is going to go on my wall in the classroom so everyone can see it. You have spoilt me! Thank you to the grown ups for all your support and understanding (especially when my internet failed and Tapestry became overwhelmed). Thank you to all the children for being so special and having such a good attitude to learning.
Thank you Mrs Butler, Miss Brown, Mrs Velez-Colby and Mrs Moriarty, and all the other grown ups in the School. It is such a wonderful and happy place to work because of all the children and grown ups in it. What a fab team!
Today, it Saturday and the first day of our Summer Holiday. It is going to be 7 weeks. A few of you have asked about some things you could do over the holidays. I have put a list of ideas together if things you may wish to do. You may choose to do a few of the activities, you may do all or you may not do any at all. That is all ok. Have fun and I look forward to seeing you in your Year 1 classroom soon (through the window of course).
Idea 1
This maths site is brilliant. There are so many activities to look through and you can pick and choose what you would like to do. They concentrate on all the areas of learning in Reception.

Idea 2
You could choose one of the activities suggested below. If you go on a bus or train then remember your mask and to keep your safe space.
Idea 3
Go to your local park or open space. Valley Gardens in Harrogate has a good crazy golf course. Crazy golf is so good to work on your physical development and it will help you practice team work. It does not cost very much. Maybe you could pay using your clever knowledge of coins.
Idea 4
Explore the outdoors on your bike. If you can ride a bike then you could go on a bike ride. If you can not ride your bike yet, then you could practice. Riding your bike is a good way to keep fit and healthy. It also allows you to travel further distances than walking. Remember to put on your helmet.
Idea 5 –
This year, we can not travel as much as we would like to. Maybe you are sneaking away on holiday, but if not, then you could camp in your garden with a grown up. You could make a den, sleep in a wendy house or in a tent. I wonder if you could spot any star constellations or whether you see any nocturnal animals. I have a hedgehog family in my garden at the moment. What other nocturnal animals might you see?

Idea 6 –
Birchfield farm near Summerbridge is brilliant for ‘Pick your Own Fruit’. Maybe you could go and pick your own strawberries and the other fruit available. I love seeing where my food comes from. You may even be aloud a cheeky ice-cream. The banana ice cream is my favourite. Henry loves the Bubblegum blue ice cream flavour. You will need to book a slot on their website.

How are the crops growing that you planted in spring? I know so many of you were growing some wonderful things. I am so excited to get my first corn and tomatoes. My apples are growing really well this year. What do plants need to grow?
Idea 7 –
In the dales where I grew up there is a fairy land. I know how much we have all enjoyed looking for fairies and spotting fairy dust these last few weeks. You will need to book a slot. It is called Studofold. It is near a place called Stean and Ramsgill. Maybe you could make your own fairy house with the natural materials. You could even write your own fairy story, or draw a picture. Studfold would love to hear how much you enjoyed yourself on your visit. You could write a review.
When I was little I watched a magical film called ‘The Fairy Tale – A true story’. It is about two little girls that lived near Stean that saw real fairies. I have ordered the DVD and I will give it to Miss Jenkins for you to watch as a treat one day in Year1. You will love it. Or, you could buy a copy and watch it this holiday.
Idea 8 –
Yesterday, Bubble A found a secret door in a tree in Forest School. We thought it might be a fairy door. It reminded me of a wonderful story called ‘The Folk of the Faraway Tree’ written by Enid Blyton. You could listen to it following this link, or your grown up may have a copy of the book hiding in the cupboard. Bubble B have enjoyed reading chapter books. Maybe this could be a chapter book that you listen to at home.

The link above has a free 30 day trial. There are other options on youtube.
I wonder what other adventures happened at the tree. The tree is somewhere near here. It is near an old train line. I wonder if you find it on one of your walks this summer.
Idea 9 –
You could help your grown up make dinner. It will help you with their maths when measuring all the ingredients. Here are two of my favourite things to make with my own children.

Idea 10 – Last Thing
Mrs Jenkins had sent you some work to do. If you have not done it yet then I know she would love it if you could over the holiday. Here is a story and letter from her.
